I Sunday in Lent A.D. 2015

On 22 February 2015, First Sunday in Lent, Mass was sung in the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

Today, the Church sings one of the longest tracts in Her Liturgy: Qui habitat from Ps. 90, 1–7, 11–16. In the Gospel, we hear Satan tempting our Lord in vain, in his attempt to know if the Son of Mary is the Son of God.

On 18 February 2015, Ash Wednesday, Mass was sung in the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

Quinquagesima A.D. 2015

On 15 February 2015, Quinquagesima Sunday, Mass was sung in the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

On Quinquagesima, the Church reminds us that Christ brought light upon the world. Saint Gregory the Great says: “The man born blind of whom the Gospel tells is surely the human race. Ever since man has been turned out of Paradise in the person of our first father, he has not known the light of heaven, and therefore has suffered through being plunged into the darkness of condemnation.”

Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph A.D. 2015

On 8 February 2015, Second Sunday of the month, Sexagesima Sunday, feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in many parishes in the Philippines, Mass was sung in the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. To understand why this is the situation in the Philippines, please check this. The Holy Family is the titular of said parish church, and so has precedence over the Sunday. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

Requiem for the fallen SAF troopers

On Saturday, 7 February 2015, a Requiem Mass was celebrated for the souls of the police officers who perished in the Mamasapano encounter on 25 January 2015. (See Wikipedia article on the event here.) Serving at Mass were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

The 44 troopers of the SAF non tantum saevissime trucidati sunt sed etiam crudelissime dilaniati sunt by elements militating for Muslim separatist causes in Mindanao. After the fallen police officers were massacred, their remains were mutilated, the brutality of which is only probably out-Heroded by the terrors to which many Christians in Iraq and Syria, and the Muslims who either defended or harboured them, were consigned. Wilful murder is amongst the sins crying to heaven for vengeance.

First Friday of February A. D. 2015: Act of Reparation

On 6 February 2015, First Friday of the month, Mass was sung in honour of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in reparation for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of His divine love committed during the distribution of Holy Communion in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Manila and at the Luneta in the Masses celebrated during the Papal Visit.

Accounts, reported here, from eyewitnesses who saw the Hosts—the very Body and Blood of the Lord!—being passed around like some cheap cracker or biscuit, softened by the general dampness of the weather, accidentally discharged to the mud and not retrieved, trampled upon by countless feet are enough to move the heart of every Catholic unto sorrow and compunction.
