Invention of the Holy Cross A.D. 2015

On 3 May 2014, fourth Sunday after Easter, Mass in honour of the Invention of the Holy Cross, according to the calendar of the Philippines, was celebrated Mass at the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

This feast is the origin of the peculiar Filipino tradition of santacruzan, a catechetical Easter procession depicting the journey of the world towards salvation, which has now been unfortunately hijacked by the secular mercenaries and turned into a flamboyant pageantry.

After Mass, the Relics of the True Cross were carried in procession (called a staurophoric procession, on account of the relics) around the vicinity of the parish, after which the Benediction and Exposition of the Relics was made in the oratory.

Ut in omnibus laudetur Dominus.

  1. Instead of trying so hard to impose new and odd cultural forms in thenovus ordo (inculturation) our leaders should just reclaim from degenerate pop culture our catholic culture. This traditional celebration is an excellent way of doing this.
