Maundy Thursday A.D. 2015

[UPDATE: New photos added.]

Maundy Thursday
falls on 2 April this year. On the first day of the Sacred Triduum, we celebrate the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist by our Lord Jesus Christ, and the mandatum—maundy or mandy in English—wherein the Lord and Master humbled Himself into washing the feet of His Apostles that they may also wash each other’s feet. On this day, Mass was sung in the Parish of the Holy Family in the Diocese of Cubao. Assisting were members of the Societas Ecclesia Dei Sancti Ioseph – Una Voce Philippines.

Glory be to Jesus,
Who in bitter pains,
poured for us the lifeblood
from His sacred veins.
Grace and life eternal
in His Blood we find,
blest be His compassion;
infinitely kind.
At the Epistle and at the Gospel.

At the Consecration.
Hoc est enim Corpus meum.

Hic est enim Calix Sánguinis mei, novi et aetérni testaménti : mystérium fídei : qui pro vobis et pro multis effundétur in remissiónem peccatórum.

At the distribution of Holy Communion.

Ecce Agnus Dei, ecce qui tollit peccáta mundi.

After the dismissal, the Blessed Sacrament was reposed in the monumento, the common name by which the altar of repose or the sepulchre is called in the Philippines.
Pange, lingua, gloriósi
Córporis mystérium,
Sanguinísque pretiósi,
Quem in mundi prétium
Fructus ventris generósi
Rex effúdit géntium.
Nobis datus, nobis natus
Ex intácta Vírgine,
Et in mundo conversátus,
Sparso verbi sémine,
Sui moras incolátus
Miro clausit órdine.
In suprémae nocte coenae
Recúmbens cum frátribus
Observáta lege plene
Cibis in legálibus,
Cibum turbae duodénae
Se dat suis mánibus.
Verbum caro, panem verum
Verbo carnem éfficit:
Fitque sanguis Christi merum,
Et si sensus déficit,
Ad firmándum cor sincérum
Sola fides súfficit.
Tantum ergo Sacraméntum
Venerémur cérnui :
Et antíquum documéntum
Novo cedat rítui :
Præstet fides suppleméntum
Sénsuum deféctui.
Genitóri, Genitóque
Laus et jubilátio,
Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Sit et benedíctio :
Procedénti ab utróque
Compar sit laudátio.
Amen.

After the reposition of the Blessed Sacrament, vespers were recited at once.
O Dómine, quia ego servus tuus : ego servus tuus, et fílius ancíllae tuae.

In the evening, the altars were stripped.
Deus, Deus meus, réspice in me : quare me dereliquísti ? longe a salúte mea verba delictórum meórum.

Quóniam circumdedérunt me canes multi : concílium malignántium obsédit me.

Annuntiábitur Dómino generátio ventúra : et annuntiábunt coeli iustítiam eius pópulo, quem fecit Dóminus.
Ut in omnibus laudetur Dominus.
