On Saturday, 25 January 2014, feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle, Michael Decoyna and Virginia Padngaran contracted matrimony according to the Use of the Philippine Islands, in the face and in the peace of Holy Mother Church at the parish of Saint Joseph in La Trinidad in Benguet, in the presence of Monsignor Andres Cosalan, Jr., Vicar General of the Diocese of Baguio and spiritual director of the Communio Servorum Missae Latinae.
The sacrament was contracted at the entrance of the church, in the presence of the witnesses and the families of the nuptial couple.
After the admonition and exhortation, and the scrutiny by triple interrogation (first of the bride and then of the groom), the nuptial couple were bound inseparably duo in carne una, the witnessing priest invoking the Triune Godhead, the Communion of Saints, and Holy Mother Church.
The thirteen arrhae and the two rings, placed upon a platter, were then blessed.
The rings already blessed were then bestowed first unto the husband by the priest, and then to the wife through the husband. The rings were imposed, as indicated in the rubrics, on the ring finger of the right hand of the husband and the wife.
The arrhae were then transmitted from the priest to the husband, then the husband to the wife (repeating the formula dictated by the priest), then the wife back to the priest.
After the psalm and the final prayer, the Nuptial Mass began with the introduction of the nuptial couple into the sanctuary, processing while holding unto the edge of the stole of the priest.
Candles were lit and given to the nuptial couple and their sponsors at the Gospel, extinguished afterwards (and rekindled at the Sanctus and extinguished for the last time thereafter). Msgr. Cosalan delivered a beautiful sermon on the sacrament of Matrimony.
After the Pater noster and before the Líbera me, the veil and the yoke were then imposed on the husband and wife: the veil covering the head of the wife and the shoulders of the groom; the yoke forming the figure of 8 upon the veil. Afterwards, Mass proceeded as usual.
After the Mass, the child of the couple was baptised in the traditional rites.
